Established
in 1948, Huron Pointe Sportsmen’s
Association
is located at 35800 East 28 Mile
Road in Lenox, Michigan on 84 acres of land. The facilities
include a clubhouse that seats over 200 people as well as a huge outdoor
pavilion.. The grounds include three
Trap Fields, two
Skeet Fields, a 13
station wooded, hard path
Sporting Clays course, and
three different natural walk-through 3-D Archery Ranges as well as indoor
winter youth and adult archery league facilities. For the rifle and
pistol shooter, there is an outdoor 100 yard
Rifle and Pistol
Range
with a covered firing line.
The public is always welcome at H.P.S.A.
Participation in open shoots is encouraged, and all open shoots are listed
on the
monthly calendars. League
participation is also encouraged, and league participation requires
becoming a Prospective Member for a particular league. In general,
this allows participation for the duration of the particular league's time
frame, which usually lasts for 8-12 weeks.
In addition to being a Prospective Member
for a particular league, one can join H.P.S.A. as a Prospective Member on
the waiting list, which is the first step on becoming a Full Member.
A one-time initiation fee is collected that puts a person on the Full
Member waiting list and allows league participation as well.
Thereafter, a yearly Prospective Member fee is collected for the duration of
the time spent on the waiting list. This yearly fee permits Prospective
Members on the waiting list to participate in all activities and shoots
for the entire year. When Full Member openings arise, Prospective
Members are elevated to Full Member status.
Club activities include but are not limited to hosting a Wild Game dinner
in March, Heritage Days events in August, turkey shoots,
monthly breakfasts,
dinners, celebratory dances, get-togethers, and more.
H.P.S.A. also helps
Benefit4Kids, St. Jude Hospital, The Kidney Foundation,
the Adopt a Child for Christmas Program, and The Relay for Life.
H.P.S.A. plays an important role in
helping to preserve Michigan's Hunting Heritage by contributing manpower
and money to defeat anti-hunting initiatives and misguided, anti-hunting
ballot proposals. H.P.S.A. also promotes active participation in the
shooting sports and hunting by our youth, including Hunters' Safety
Courses, promoting promising shooters, and has an active 4-H Shooting
Sports group at the club.
H.P.S.A. actively participates in Friends of the NRA, is affiliated
with Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC) and the Civilian Marksmanship
Program (CMP).
